Ladies Thursday 20th October
Today it was The Townies v Out of Townies challenge. Glorious day, course drying out, fairways mown and greens looking lush - some great scores came in.
Lyn Dwyer & Betty Newton set the early pace for the OOTies with their 9 hole scores. Lyn being the 9 hole winner with 19 pts. Brilliant play.
Sandra Piazza & Judy Bynon both came in with 40 pts apiece!! Sandra winner on a C/B, Jan Harper next in line with 38 pts. Unfortunately for the OOTies, those three were all on the winning Townies team, 29 av to 26.4.
Thanks to our OOT import Debbie Tully for helping to lift our average and for the yummy apricot loaf. Please come again!!
Mens Saturday 15th October
Karl O’Shaughnessy was today’s winner of the third round of the Ian O’May Shield with the top 8 players to qualify for the playoffs. He won with 36pts, C/B from Dave Clark, and is also the Drummond’s Monthly Medal winner - I believe this is a first MM for Karl - one to finally tick off his bucket list.
Ball winners were Damien Rossato 35pts, Craig Piazza 34 & Ian Wales 32.
NTPs Paul Evans, Dave Clark, David Rowe & Craig P.
After all the rain we’ve had it was amazing that the composite course was playable. Many of the other courses in the region have had to close.
Mens Wednesday 19th October
Jim Martin might be able to dine on lamb chops for dinner tonight thanks to Clyde St Butchery & a fine score of 37 pts, Rup Pieter Veldman 36pts. Ball winner Craig Shewell. NTPs to Peter Ternes, Dave Clark & John Costello.
Chalk up two, consecutive, sunny, golf days…..but who’s counting????
Me, me, me…..
PROPOSED TEAMS EVENT
We have a proposal for a team’s event format with the event beginning on the 14/11 and closing on the 24/12 with a $10 entry fee with the winning team taking all.
Teams of thee will be drawn from a hat, from two different categories, single round per week players, two rounds a week players, at least one of each category in each team if possible. For 18 hole golfers best three scores, and nine hole players best six scores.
Depending on entries a third category will come into play with all teams mixed if possible.
All rounds to be converted to stableford scoring eg if comp on the day is a par event a square round becomes 36 pts for the purpose of the teams event.
This format may need tweaking if we decide to repeat this event next year, but I think this is a reasonable and fair way to get started.
Please register with either of us Captains
Cheers Clarky and Kerry
