MYRTLEFORD GOLF CLUB BULLETIN FRIDAY 7TH OCTOBER

WET WEATHER – WET COURSE

Well, lucky us, we haven’t had the heavy rain that was predicted. The Composite Course is quite playable although a bit wet in places.

The Full Course is still very wet on the 3rd, 5th, 6th so we will continue using the Composite Course. Carts are still not allowed but this is being reviewed on a daily basis.

COMPETITIONS

LADIES - Tuesday

A great day for golf on Tuesday, especially for Sandra Piazza & Judy Bynon. Sandra won the playoff in the final of the Ian O’May Singles knockout - an exciting match down to the wire - 1 up after 18 holes. Well done to both of you!

Judy was the Drummond Monthly Medal winner 73 nett, from Geoff Veldman & Faye McLees 74. Judy also had least putts with just 25.

NTP’s went to Liz Orton, Sandra & Pieter Veldman.

Barb Welch had 20 pts for 9 holes, R’up Liz Orton 17. Carolyn Prowse was presented with a very impressive NEDGA Player of the Year Div 3 trophy. That’s our girl!!

After golf there was a yummy afternoon tea, thanks to the Queens of Catering Carolyn & Faye, to celebrate friend Gill Piggott’s 70th. Happy significant birthday Gill.

MENS

The First Round of the Ian O’May Shield was held last Saturday after a couple of postponements.

Geoff Veldman was straight out of the blocks with a morning start and it was a case of ‘catch me if you can’ to the other 27 players.…..his 40 pt score was a cracker and 4 pts ahead of next nearest, Karl O’Shaughnessy 36pts. Ball winners were Jim Martin, Brad Carroll & Ian Wales all on 32 pts.

It was a welcome return of some Spring weather and with daylight saving now kicked in there is plenty of time to fit in late afternoon 9 holes.
