Drainage

Being at the Clubhouse all day for the Alpine Classic gave John Costello and I the opportunity to show Harrington Plumbing our problems with Drainage on the 3rd fairway. Gerard quickly assessed that the drain from the creek to the first pit needs blasting out and then continue to work back. Blasting will commence on April 11th.

Ukraine Visit

Last Saturday, 27 Ukrainian players from Melbourne played a two-day Club Championship, Myrtleford Saturday and Bright Sunday.

They have been coming to the Ovens Valley for many years.
The last time was two years ago and they were in Bright when the Victorian State went into the first Covid lockdown.
Many of the players have been taking in refugees from the Ukraine.

Peter Stewart proudly hangs the Ukraine flag and poster at our 19th hole.

Yesterday Jon Harrington and I pruned more trees, that dreadful tree next to the 3rd green has been pruned, now you can play a shot from under it.

We have had a deadful smell at the Clubhouse, hopefully the plumber has fixed it this week - thank you for you patience.

Men’s Tee Signs

Thanks to Andrew Roseby who picked up our new men’s tee signs this week and he hasn’t wasted any time in painting our posts. We will need the support of all members in painting the posts and rails. If every member did one, we would need 18 members and the job would be done, contact Andrew for more information.

Update – Yesterday,Kerry Newton, Barry Bynon and myself painted all tees on the front nine, great effort, 8 to go.

Recreational Reserve

Not a good idea to go to an Annual Meeting, you usually end up with a job and last Tuesday, I was elected to the Committee of Management. As they are our landlord, it is important we have a voice on this Committee. I am keen to have a deputy who can attend meeings. We have issues with water coming on to our drainage system on the 3rd and 4th out of the reserve.

For our Club to grow and offer facilities such as a driving range, we will need more land, the Reserve doesn’t have a Master Plan, so I will be pushing for that.
