Drainage
This week we have been sourcing quotes to upgrade the drainage on the third and fourth fairways. The third and fifth fairways have always been wet in the winter, thus requiring a composite course. We tried to blast the dirt out of the pipework but roots have wrecked the pipe - we need to replace the pipe with a better product. This year we will do 100metres on the fourth. If the quotes are too expensive, COULD we do it ourselves ? Welcome any suggestions.
Bright Challenge
Last Wednesday, 37 players played in the Rob Wickes challenge against Bright, only 7 from Bright but a great roll up from Myrtleford.
Karl O;Shaughnessy won the A grade with 39 points, Craig Shewell runner up with 36 points. Ladies A grade winner was Kerry Newton with 36 points, runner up Sandra Piazza with 31 points.
Bright won the challenge.
A special thanks to the ladies for lunch and Gerard and Jonathan for course presentation.
Three Cheers
On Wednesday we celebrated Judy Bynon’s Birthday and great to have back in our company Jim Martin. Jim, a past committee man has returned to Myrtleford to live and is rejoining the Club - Welcome back Jim. Third cheer goes out to David Matthews who’s having a break from golf for seven days.
Ladies Pennant
Our team travelled to Yarrawonga and were defeated 3/2. Lesley played her first pennant game and lost out on the 16th. Winners were Carolyn Prowse and Ann Hazeldine.
Men’s Pennant
No pennant this week for the Wannabees as they were hosts.
Our other pennant team lost 3/2 at Wodonga, Next pennant, May 1st
Rammer Ramsdale
A past MGC member and famous local footballer, Geoff Ramsdale has been bringing a bus load of Yarrawonga players to play socially for many years. Their visit was last Sunday and I thank the pennant team for looking after them. I believe they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They’ll be back!
