Men’s Comp

Last Saturday’s Competition, Easter Saturday Stableford, a great field of 32 players plus a lot of green fee players. I thank the members for their patience with the green fee players.

David Clark won A grade with 37 points on a countback from Bimbo Wales.

Elijah Wales won B Grade with 36 points from Gordon Wieneg.

Please, all players must hit off before 12.30pm. it makes it a very long day for our Captain to do the results, no doubt there was always discussion by Committees in the past to bring the 12.30 hit off forward to 12.00 noon. The best outcome would be to have more players around for 4.00pm presentation - but that is another subject.

Last Wednesday, following terrific rain, the greens were soft and slow, but this did not worry Andrew Roseby who had 34 points, runner up David Clark with 33 points.

Our Club is on show in our Community, it will not reflect well if we only had 50 guests there.

Easter

Green fees have been fanastic over Easter.

Good Friday - Thanks to Sandra Piazza and my good wife, over $1,000.00 in green fees and cart hire.

Easter Sunday – Thanks to my good wife, Marg Fitridge and Peter and Kylli Vasey, again over $1000 in fees.

Course

Our match committee has met and they have confirmed the ruling that you do not get a free drop from under a tree unless sticks have been stacked their for removal. One stick is not deemed a stack and can be carefully removed, so that the ball does not move in the process. As we go into winter, no doubt our greenkeepers will be busily removing sticks and bark from under trees.

Loxton – South Australia

I had a phone call this week from the President of the Loxton Golf Club whether we are keen to continue with reciprocal rights with their Club - Yes and I had the same request from Ulverstone in Tasmania. If you travel, check out the reciprocal clubs on our wedsite for half green fees - even if you play at Bright.

Football Club

This Sunday, The Myrtleford Football Club and Myrtleford Golf Club are having an 2 player Ambrose and I urge all our members to support this day by playing. We have a strong relationship with the Football Club (Club50) over many years so turn up at 9.00am for a great day of golf. As we receive the bar takings, looking for members to work behind the bar.

Sponsorship of Annual Tournament

The Club received great news this week of the continued support from WAW and Rinlatech for our forth coming tournament. We thank them both and now we can swing into gear, planning our annual tournament.

Ladies Bowl, please book through Kerry.

4BBB and Saturday Stroke event – Please book in on our website or leave your name on our notice board.

New Software

Yesterday, we had a training session on using the new software we are installing soon. The new system is called MiGolf and the app. for your phone is called MiScore. This will be a big change to our competition.

With your phone, you will be able to record your partners and your score on your phone. You will be able to use the app. as a GPS. There is a cost involved, $16 a year. If you wish, you can continue to use a score card and no doubt a lot of players will.

One of the advantages of MiGolf is we will be able to have the best Eclectic score for both Ladies and Men. The software records your best score on a hole and updates through out the year. At the end of the year, your best card will be produced.

All of the larger Clubs around us, Wodonga, Jubilee, Wangaratta and Howlong, you must book in to play, I think we are a long away from that but it could be used for our tournament and Alpine Classic.

More information will come out soon.
