Yesterday 98 ladies dodged the rain to play in Ladies Annual Bowl. Credit to all ladies involved, but a huge shout out to Captain Kerry for pulling it all together. Ladies involved in catering led by Faye McLees served a magnificent lunch (the word is they come for the lunch and not the golf). To our greenkeepers, Gerard and Jonathan, the course is fantastic. Our sponsors WAW and Rinatech, thank you

Best performers for Myrtleford, Sarah Deas, wining D grade and Marg Curtis winning two nearest the pins and a raffle prize.

Course

Please put in your diary, working bee on the 22nd May.

Men’s Captain David Clark is calling out all members to make it not only a working bee, but also a social day with a bbq lunch (BYO). 10.00am for a couple of hours.

I must say the course is BEAUTIFUL, all the work Gerard, Jonathan and members have done over the last couple of years, plus the wonderful season, our course is looking at its best

Thanks to Judy and Barry for cleaning up under big tree and their fairway of responsibility – the 18th. Great initiative – it would be great if other members stepped up.

Recreation Meeting

This week I attended a Recreation Reserve meeting.

A couple of items that effect the Golf Club

New entrance – The Committee is keen to have a two lane entrance coming into the reserve and one way out. This would stop cars building up on Yackandandah Road. It would have an impact on our summer parking under the oak trees, meaning driving through and then coming back to trees close to the Clubhouse.

Drainage – We have a big problem with water coming out of the reserve into our drainage system. This is exacerbates our problem as we have water coming into the same system from our hill and what water falls on the third and fifth, basically the water is not getting away. The Rec Reserve Committee is willing to look at the overall drainage problem.

Master Plan – The Committee is keen to develop a masterplan and will kick off with a walk around the reserve in June.

100th Celebrations

Tickets are now on sale for our Celebration dinner, May 28th, 6.30pm, Myrtleford Football Club, $50.00 per head. I cannot stress enough how important it is for every member to buy 2 tickets and invite other couples. There are over 200 club contacts on my email address book, so please support this night.

As we live in this culture of events being cancelled, it was disappointing that our Guest Speaker David Schwarz cannot make our dinner. We are very fortunate that our contact country member Guy Rigoni had been able to secure Damien Fleming, past test cricketer and now commentor to replace David. I believe Damien is a real character, humorous and a very popular speaker.

Our tickets sales continue to be very slow, IT IS ONLY A FORTNIGHT, we have to let the caterer know next Monday week our numbers.

If you wish to purchase a table of 8, then please purchase 8 tickets and get the money off your friends.

I thank John and Barb Welch for giving up their valuable time to do an interview with Prime TV which hopefully will be shown next week. I will send out an email advising when it is going to be shown.

Great photo I found this week, I think Ian O’May hitting off the 18th . For our centennial day, ( June 11th) I hope you are getting your ties and suits out!!
