Men’s Comp – Stroke Tournament

Last Saturday, 30 players played in the stroke event as part of our annual tournament. It rained most of the day which made conditions very tough. Three times champion at Myrtleford Vaughan Saunders had an excellent 74 off the stick. B grade, best off the stick was Gerard Black with an 87, runner up Jye Cunneen 93.

A grade handicap winner was Aaron Jose with a net 72 , B grade winner Jonathan Mercuri net 73, runner up Andrew McKerral net 77.

Thanks to our Ladies for lunch, Gerard and Jonathan, our sponsors WAW and Rinlatech Engineering and Dick in the office.

Last Wednesday, 4 players played, and Andrew Roseby won on the day with 35 points, runner up Peter Ternes with 31 points. This was our first competition with the new software, thanks John for introducing the programme to members – it will certainly prove to be a great asset to the Club as we move with the times.

First round of the match play finals must be played by the 29th

A grade – Craig Piazza Vs David Matthews : Paul Green Vs Brad Carroll

B grade – Craig Shewell Vs Gerard Black : David Clark defeated Spider

PLEASE NOTE

The competition for Next Saturday 28th will be from 11.00-12.00, all players remain for presentation and out of the Clubhouse by 5.00pm, so that the dinner can be set up. Guy Rigoni and Damien Fleming as well as equal course record holder Peter Glidden will be playing. If you are a past player or know a past player, they are very welcome to play, no handicap required.

Tomorrow, a raffle will be conducted as usual. Another draw will take place which will include all playing members and we will draw out names of players who would have the opportunity to play with Guy and Damien on the 28th. What a great day for two lucky members!

It is also Captains Vs President Day, ladies are invited, lets show Guy and Damien by having a good roll up.

4BBB-Annual Tournament

Our 4BBB held last Friday attracted a good field of 36 players. The rain held off and so did the good scores. Winners of the Men, Peter Stewart and Myself on 37 points. Best score for the ladies – great supporters of our Club from Mansfield.

Please bring your trailer.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, the Beechworth Correctional men will be doing the paving at the side gate, please use the front gate.

Ladies Comp

Last Tuesday 9 ladies played in cold conditions and only one player broke the 100 barrier, Barb Welch had a net 78 to win the event

Nine hole winner was Penny Dawkins with a great score of 23 points. Well done Penny and great that Lizzie Orton got another card in.

Yesterday’s competition, winner was Lyn Dwyer on a countback from Kerry Newton on 30 points. Well done Lyn, watch that handicap come down. It was wonderful to see Helen Mummery back playing – submitted her first card.

9 hole winner was Suzette Kelly with 15 points from Robyn Ternes 14 points.

I believe that Brad Carroll had students from Marian out having a hit, well done Brad.

100th Celebrations

If you have indicated to me that you are having a table at our dinner, then please pay for the table NOW. Numbers must be finalised by NEXT TUESDAY, 12.30pm. You will miss out.

If all the above turn up, we will have around 130 and the dinner will be at our Clubhouse and not at the Football Club.

Gapsted Wines have kindly donated 2 boxes of wine to the evening. We have secured a barman from outside the Club to run the bar, but she will need assistance, can you help out for 4 hours, you will hear a great guest speaker for free. If we do not have any members available, I ask members attending the dinner to step up, help our bar lady and relieve for say half hour stints – easy!

THE WANNABBES

Simply The Best

Two years in a row, North East District Handicap Pennant Champions, The Wannabees, Pieter Veldman, Tristan Purss, Brad Carroll, David Clark and Paul Green. Captain Karl O'Shaughnessy who played in last year’s winning team chose not to play, enabling another player to play in a winning team, Great leadership Karl. They defeated Thurgoona 3 1/2 to 1 ½ at Wodonga. Congratulations to you all from the Club – we are very proud.
