President's Bulletin – June 10th, 2022

Men’s Comp –

Last Saturday, only 8 players played in a Stableford event. They were very brave as the conditions were terrible and the course was very wet. But this did not worry Jye Cunneen who burnt up the field with an excellent 37 points, runner up Craig Shewell with 35 points.

If you wish to download the app for your mobile to score on our new program, it is called MiScore - $16.00 a year, has an excellent GPS with it.

Last Wednesday, no golf.

The final of the Club Match Play A grade – Craig Piazza Vs Brad Carroll

B grade semi still to be played – Craig Shewell Vs Gerard Black : David Clark defeated Spider

Sale of Carts,

Last week I posted on Gumtree and Facebook, our 2 oldest carts and the John Deere Mower. A lot of enquiries for both, the carts were sold last Sunday morning for $6500, good money considering their age.

We have had an inspection of the mower and the prospective buyer is coming back to us within a week.

Course

Blackie has declared that our course is now composite. This is so disappointing so early into winter and with our course in such great condition in May, hopefully the course will return to the full playing soon.

Ladies Comp

No golf Tuesday due to the weather.

Yesterday’s competition, 5 players played, and Sarah Deas won the day with 28 points, runner up Carolyn Prowse 25 points

Centennial Celebration

Our Centennial events have been cancelled due to current playing conditions.

We will do it in the Spring.

On Queens Birthday (Monday 13th), our 2 player Ambrose has been cancelled, if you like to play a social Ambrose, turn up around 10.00am.

As there are a lot of members who travel north in the winter, the Wednesday comp COULD be scrapped, and Men play on the Thursday. If you wish to support playing on a Wednesday, turn up for next Wednesday’s comp. Captain David will be making the final decision.

Les Wheeler

This week, the Club received a letter from Les Wheeler

Les a brother on Club Champion Len, was a country member of our Club and visited Myrtleford each year to work on tobacco. Len’s other brother Ray was also member of our Club.

In the mid-seventies, in one year, Len was Club Champion, Len and Dulcie Mixed Champions, Les B grade Champion and Len and Les Men’s pairs Champions. What a “WHEELER” of a year, will we ever see a family do that again?

Les and his wife played in our tournaments for over 20 years and enjoyed each visit.

Les is in his 90’s and would have loved to attend our Centennial Dinner. Speaking to him on the phone, he has fond memories of Bill and May Newton, Kelvin Peart and many others. He wishes the Club all the best. He has great memories of his times at our Club from being sand scrapes to transforming to grass greens.

Our Club is certainly blessed to have the Wheeler family involved in our Club. They have made a huge contribution to the history of our Club.
