Men’s Comp –

Last Saturday, 8 players played in a stableford event. The course was very wet, but this didn’t stop David Matthews having a good round with 36 points, runner up Spider Hancock with 33 points plus 2 nearest the pins.

6 players played yesterday, David Matthews was again on fire with another 36 points, runner up Ian Wales, 33 points

If you wish to download the app for your mobile to score on our new program, it is called MiScore - $16.00 a year, has an excellent GPS with it.

Course

Golf play is still composite but the course is gradually drying out, faint hope that we will be playing the full course soon – no carts until further notice and preferred lies.

Ladies Comp

A good field of ladies played last Tuesday in foggy, damp conditions. Barb Welch won the day with a solid 30 points, runner up Judy Bynon on 29 points.

9 hole winner was Penny Dawkins with 13 points, on a count back from new chum, Lizzie Orton.

Yesterday, 7 ladies played – Sarah Deas won the 18 hole competition with 30 points, runner up Carolyn Prowse.

9 hole competition was won by Lesley Browne.

The Phantom of the Open

A new comedy to be released soon is the “The Phantom of the Open”

A heart-warming British comedy starring Oscar winner Mark Rylance, is the true story of Maurice Flintcroft, the worst golfer to ever win the British Open.

If you are interested in a social activity, then this could be a good afternoon, lunch and movie, let me know.

Vale Kevin Pitts

Sadly, past member Kevin Pitts passed away this week. Kevin was only recently awarded an Order of Australia. Kevin regularly played on Wednesday’s and was a top guy. He also cooked many roasts for the Club when we had catering required. Condolences to his family, funeral next Monday at the Football Club, 11.00am.

Golf Rules

  1. / False? If a player has marked and lifted their ball from the putting green and then accidentally replaces another ball onto the spot and makes a stroke, this substitution is not permitted and must be corrected by placing the original ball on the spot and putting again?

False - If the player is required under the Rules to put the original ball back in play rather than to substitute another ball, the substituted ball becomes the player’s ball in play. When replacing a ball on a spot, the player is not allowed to substitute a ball and must use the original ball. If a player makes a stroke at an incorrectly substituted ball, the player gets the general penalty, and must continue play with the incorrectly substituted ball. See Rules 6.3, 14.2 and definition of 'Substitute'.
