President's Bulletin – August 5th, 2022

Last week Lesley and I were in the Barossa Valley. I visited the Golf course at Novtel and the Club is privately run. They are rapted in My Club, in fact they do not have ladies tees, just play off yellow, social, Blue all competitions, both ladies and men and Black for Men Board events. Of course, handicaps are adjusted to which marker you play off. All the ladies use MiScore and fifty percent of the men.

Men’s Comp –

Last Saturday, very good field of 24 players played and Club Handicapper David Matthews continued his very good form winning with 39 points runner up David Clark on a countback from Gerard Black with 36 points.

It was good to see the Lefties vs Righties competition was played and with Dickie’s good score, the lefties won.

Course

Following the rain this week, the course will continue to be composite.

Ladies Comp

10 players played last Tuesday in the Monthly Medal and Captain Kerry Newton won the medal on a countback from Jan Roseby on a net 73

9-hole competition, great to see Denise O’Donohue win, runner up Suzzette Kelly was the runner up.

Yesterday, 3 ladies played in wet conditions, very brave. In treasurer’s reports for next week’s committee meeting, more income from ladies competition than men last month, no men yesterday.

Continuing her good form, Kerry Newton won the day with 34 points, and two nearest the pins, runner up Marg Curtis with 29 points.

Recreational Reserve

This week I attended the August meeting. At long last, an approval from the Alpine Shire to build a new toilet/shower block has been approved. Drainage on our course and the Reserve is a very high priority and the Committee will be meeting with DELWP for funding and options to improve drainage.

Joan Eaton

A very popular past member, Joan passed away this week. Both Joan and her late husband Bob were hard working volunteers for our Club. Bob for many years look after bar purchasing and the bar, while Joan was terrific in the kitchen. In fact they were so respected by their formal Club, they paid their first year membership at Myrtleford. Condolences to their families from our Club.
