President's Bulletin – August 12th, 2022
Club 50
Last Friday night, was our July draws for Club 50.
Members with smiles on their faces were Henry Hilton and Fox and Denise O’Donohue. As both Presidents are injured, Marne and Sandra did the draws.
Men’s Comp –
Last Saturday, following rain Friday night and Saturday morning, 7 players made the big decision to play. Looking at some of the photos, gum boots would have been recommended.
Gerald Black won the day with 32 points and runner up was David Clark on a countback from Craig Piazza, 30 points. Trout’s drive on the 11th could have cost him a beer
Course
Following the rain this week, this winter is absolutely unbelievale, very wet June, normal July and August, with the first week being very wet. It is always the opinion of the committee that the composite course should be dry. There are three areas that require extra drainage work.
More rain is forecast today. The Monthly Medal will be conducted at the end of the month.
The course was closed on Monday, Blackie will continue to review the state of the course, playing composite, preferred lies and no carts.
Ladies Comp
14 players played last Tuesday in a stableford event and Captain Kerry Newton continues with her good form with an excellent 38 points, runner up Jim Martin 33 points and Jim also collected two nearest the pins.
9-hole competition, Carolyn Prowse won with 13 points from the runner up Suzette Kelly on a countback. Suzette, you will win soon.
Yesterday, 8 ladies and 3 men played before the rain came in.
David Clark had an excellent 36 points, runner up in form Kerry Newton with 34 points.
In the 9 hole comp.,three ladies played and Carolyn Prowse made it the second win for the week, runner up Faye McLees.
Sponsorship
As I have said on many occasions, sponsorship is so important, this week we have received good news that the Savoy Club will sponsor our Spring Tournament in November, our monthly prize sponsors:
August - Myrtleford Post Office
September - Ray White
October- Clyde Street Butchery
Local business supporting our Club, please make sure you give them your support.
Keith Cundy
It is very sad to hear that Keith Cundy is not a very well man, he is a patient at our hospital. We send Keith and his family our very best wishes.
We wish Trout a speedy recovery following his surgery this week.

Bimbo
Great story in last Saturday’s Border, re Bimbo’s prostate operation. His father died of Prostate cancer and he was asked to participate in a trial and the rest is history. His story is also on the front page of the Myrtleford Times this week.
We look forward to seeing him and his Loretta back on the course soon.

Assistant Greenkeeper
This position has been advertised this week on Facebook, if you are interested or know of someone who could be, please contact myself or Gerard. 3 days a week work.
Update
I posted the position vacant last Monday and up until today, we have had no interest in the position. Twelve months ago, we would have had over 20 people applied, could be a real shortage of labour around.
Alpine Shire Community Grant
This week we received news that we were not successful in a community grant to upgrade our drainage. Our chances were very slim.
We are still waiting to hear our success with the Victorian Government grant to upgrade our irrigation system.
Good hitting,
George
