President's Bulletin – November 18th, 2022

NEDGA 4 BBB

Faye McLees and Ann Hazeldine had a scorcher of day last Friday, winning the Sally Symonds NEDGA 4BBB Championship at Bright with a score of 48 points, Well Done Ladies.

Ball winners were Marnie Broz, Judy Bynon, Kerry Newton and Sandra Piazza

Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting was held last Wednesday. A disappointing attendance, 22 members.

All committee were re-elected with Brad Carroll new Committee member. Thanks Brad, for putting your hand up, with your involvement with youth, being on the Committee will be a great asset to our Club.

All fees and subscriptions have been increased by 5%, full members fee is now $580.00. Competition fees – weekly $14/7, Saturday $16. The new fees come into effect from 1^st December 2022.

A suggestion was made that members look after individual fairways – this has been tried before - Committee to discuss.

Men’s Comp

Great to play the full course last Saturday, thanks Gerard and Tristan for making it possible.

20 players played Stableford and Brad Carroll burned up the field with 42 points, runner up Jim Martin with 37 points.

It was good to see many green fee players on the course, including 13 from Heatherdale Social Club.

Ladies Comp

Yesterday, 3 ladies and 10 men played in a Stableford event, Marnie Broz was on fire with a brilliant 41 points, runner up Roscoe Tanner with 35 points.

Nine hole event, winner was Marg Curtis with 17 points, runner up Barb Welch on a countback.

It was good to meet the Australian Golf area rep., Tristan Zito who visited our Club yesterday.

The Course

It had to happen sooner than later, floods on the 15^th, 17^th and 14th, last Sunday morning. We were lucky that there were not a lot of stones and rubbish left on the fairways, we lost some of our creek bank and the trees on the banks. We lost the 14^th tee sign and Blackie found it 100 metres downstream. Our course has been closed for 4 days this week.

We are having a working bee next week to stand up ‘leaning’ trees. Tuesday 10.00am, shovels, donations of steel pickets for a couple of months would be great.

Private Function

With many golfers on the course and our room booked for a private function, our Club was a buzz last Saturday. Thanks to the members for allowing the function to go ahead and having their social drinks on the verandah.

A huge thanks to Judy Bynon and Sandra Piazza for running the bar for the function and for looking after the members.

Our ladies catered for a dinner at our Club last night, thank you to all involved, a great roll up of ladies. It has reached the situation for our Club, “ Every Dollar Saved and Every Dollar Earned” is important for the future of our Club.

O’May Shield

Last Saturday, Craig Piazza and Geoff Veldman played their semi-final and Craig won on the 18^th. The other semi-final will be played soon.

Ebe Schlapp Trophy

Next Thursday, in our Centennial year, we will be resurrecting the Men’s Vs Ladies trophy. This event was held in the 70’s and 80’s. The Schlapp family have kindly donated a trophy. A light lunch will be provided at $20. No Men’s Golf next Wednesday.
